Abstrakti

LUMA Centre Finland has organized International Symposium on Science Education (ISSE) since 2011. This year (2017) the symposium was organized first time with a new name, International LUMAT Symposium: Research and Practice in Math, Science and Technology Education (LUMAT). The symposium was based on plenary lectures, discussion sessions and some hands-on activities and it was organized at the same time as National LUMA Days for Finnish teachers.

International LUMAT-symposium consisted of 52 different lectures, workshops and presentations. In addition there were four wonderful keynote speakers with interesting subjects: climate change, global space research, phenomenon based learning and the secret math of selfies. This special issue brings together different articles based on workshops, lectures and research projects related to LUMA subjects. The LUMAT 2018 will be organized in Tampere, Finland, on 5th and 6th June 2018.
