2025-01-04

HEROS Journal is dedicated to publishing original research that explores the Romanian language, literature, culture, and civilization. It fosters interdisciplinary dialogue by examining the intersections of philological sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Our issues are both thematic and non-thematic, welcoming contributions from researchers worldwide who engage with Romanian culture and civilization within national or global contexts. HEROS Journal also invites proposals for special issues, offering scholars the opportunity to serve as guest editors for thematic editions.

We encourage submissions that present innovative perspectives on Romania, spanning a wide range of disciplines, including linguistics, literature, visual and performing arts, cinema, history, philosophy, political studies etc.

Authors are encouraged to explore these topics within the framework of Romanian studies, with the possibility of drawing connections to other linguistic and cultural spaces. Contributions may address themes such as identity and its construction, geography, marginality, the Centre, and neighboring regions; freedom and its negotiation, censorship, and totalitarianism; integration, resilience, individuality, and collectivity; exile, diaspora, nationality, and transnationality; gender, ethnicity, and spirituality; dystopia, utopia, and the 'Other'; popular culture, education, and new media; transdisciplinary approaches (including medical and scientific themes); AI and the construction of new worlds in Romanian literature and cinema.
